Upon first listen to SakkieFTW’s newest release “Wasteland” I was overwhelmed.

There were so many sounds – grungy, raw electronic distortion paired with Rage Against the Machine inspired vocals. The overall feel paired well with the title “Wasteland.” The song felt like a dumping ground of emotions.

sakkieftw-logoSakkieFTW released the Wasteland EP this summer with four new electronic and dubstep inspired tracks. Out of all of the songs, Wasteland is the most intense, along with being the most reminiscent of other artist’s work. The other three songs, which include an instrumental version of Wasteland, are far less intense but also feel more intricate to me. SakkieFTW reaches a whole different level of sound with the song “Seraph.” There are no lyrics, and the music is much more calm and similar to a dark, electronic soundtrack. The instrumental version of “Wasteland” still retains the power of the original song, but seems less overwhelming without the lyrics.

Alongside the release of his newest EP, SakkieFTW continues to focus on the visual aspect of making music as well. His music video for “Experiment 1.3.2” is filled with colorful images, and serve as a powerful accompaniment to the song. I can imagine them projected on a large screen at one of SakkieFTW’s upcoming concerts. Choosing to focus on art in all forms – both musically and utilizing visual elements – creates a longer-lasting impact on anyone experiencing your music live.

Hopefully SakkieFTW continues to create explosive music and videos in his own unique style. For me, the instrumental tracks sound best and more original if his goal is to create an authentic sound. To keep up with any new releases, visit his website.
