Self-taught Austin artist DeLoné Osby adds a special element to her paintings through pyrography, or wood-burning.

We first connected with DeLoné when she designed the visuals for our article, “Tips & Trips” found in Issue 18. She was also a featured artist during our first Virtual Vacation series.

Clearly, we can’t stop working with her (and don’t want to), because she is also a part of the Artist Spotlight in Issue 19 “Make/Do.”

Mushroom Girl

There’s a reason we keep going back to DeLoné.

Beyond her beautiful work, she is a genuine, hardworking artist that uses her talent to overcome the trauma she has faced in her life and help others do the same.

We’re so excited to keep sharing her work with you.

I am a multi-medium artist who uses a combination of pyrography, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and anything else I can get my hands on. I work to create art centered around healing, self love, and spirituality.

Amethyst

In the beginning, I was inspired to create from some of the more painful things I’ve been through in my life. Now I am inspired by the healing I have done for myself, but also for the healing my art has brought other people.

My DMs usually have a couple of messages a week from people who have told me what a certain piece means to them. That and keeping my own mind and depression in check, is what keeps me going.

You’re Not Seeing

Knowing I can help someone who may be were I was a few years ago is my main motivation. I want people to see that trauma does not have to define them, and THIS is what your life can look like.
