You could say Daniel Wood Adams was destined to be a woodworker.

That is his real name afterall. Daniel lives and works in Austin, with his uber-talented partner, and Issue 18 contributor, Marcella Colavecchio.

For Issue 20 “Combo,” we featured Daniel’s wood sculptures, some sourced from guitars and skateboards found in the dumpster. What one person thought of as trash, Daniel turns into treasure, by adding his own in-your-face-illustrations.

Read ahead to learn the combination of influences that makes up his artwork.

I attended Pratt Institute and graduated with degrees in both Graphic Design and Illustration. Since then, I’ve worked with some very large and some very small scale clients, but I recently made a change to becoming a full time freelancer/artist/woodworker.

I’m Good Bro

My work is a combination of a lot of my favorite things including weird sculptures from around the world, wood of any kind (even Poplar needs love) and painting on woodcuts instead of printing them (the work is in the cut!).

I also enjoy making or finding dumpster guitars and carving/painting designs on them, making music from said Frankenstein Guitars that’s usually weird funk or thrash metal.

My influences are from all over the place but some of my favorites are: Andrei Bouzikov, Pablo Picasso, Ep Repka, Sebastian Kruger, Rudy Gutierrez, and Dennis Mcnett.
