Austin Gay Men’s Chorus presents Lip Syng: Out & Proud
September 28 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm$25
The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus invites everyone to celebrate their coming out with Lip Syng: Out & Proud, a jubilant sing-along performance with the 150-member chorus at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 & 28 at the Metropolitan Community Church of Austin, 8601 S. 1st Street, Austin, 78748. Featured songs will include perennial favorites from ABBA, Village People, Lady Gaga and more. Tickets, which start at $25, are available at www.AustinGayMensChorus.org.
“We’re inviting the audience to sing along in celebration of our coming out,” said AGMC Board Chair Paul Halstead. The 30-year-old chorus recently changed its name from the Capital City Men’s Chorus. “Whether you want to sing along or lip sync, we’ll have the words projected and invite everyone to dance and sing to the songs that have united us through the years.”
The chorus’s popularity has surged after the resounding success of last spring’s UNBREAKABLE, and this summer the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus welcomed dozens of new members. “The Austin Gay Men’s chorus is now at 150 strong,” Artistic Director Daniel Arredondo said. “All have come from different backgrounds for different reasons.”
This will be many of the new members first performance. “Lip Syng: Out & Proud is full of passion and will be full of fun for both the chorus and the members,” Arredondo said. “Come out and see and SYNG with this amazing group.”
