Bad Reed is back and ready to leave a big impression. The Canadian quartet recently released their newest single “Stained Glass” off of their much anticipated second album due out early 2017. The song is definitely one you could listen to over and over again, with a combination of sultry vocals over a funky yet heavy harmony.

Upon listening and watching the video for “Stained Glass” you can already feel the change from their first EP. Whereas the three songs on the Bad Reed EP are slower and more ethereal, the newest song is rock n’roll all the way. From the start, a heavy guitar riff provides a funk-ridden harmony as Sydney Sollazzo’s powerful vocals drive the melody. The song is more rock than any other previously released, with a similar distorted yet danceable sound as The Kills and Alabama Shakes.

Bad Reed – Stained Glass

You can always expect a fusion of genres from Bad Reed, as each of the members come from diverse musical backgrounds as well as small towns. Perhaps this influences their uniqueness. As they like to put it, they are “small town art-pop going big places.” They released their first EP for free online and are currently touring in cities in southeast Canada to support their second album release. You can tell from the experimental music video for “Stained Glass” that their passion lies in making musical experiences for their audience. In the video for their newest single, the band members are lost in the woods and go on a psychedelic trip from eating what looks to be like a burning log. By the end, they all come together to rock out. Sounds like a pretty successful (and maybe typical) day for any musician.

You can look for Bad Reed’s second album early next year, so until then just play “Stained Glass” on repeat. For the newest updates on their tour and music, visit their website.
