A Brooklyn-based folk rocker, who goes by the name of Common Jack, has recently swung a new single in our direction. He calls it “Restless,” and it just might have the words that you have been at a loss for.

With a sound that fuses together the styles of artists such as The Lumineers and Neil Young, Common Jack expresses song lyrics that are straightforward and truthful, making his music relatable on many different levels.

Common Jack expresses song lyrics that are straightforward and truthful, making his music relatable on many different levels.

While sticking to his anthemic swirl on Americana from his latest EP, Strange New Site, “Restless” features catchy and upbeat guitar and banjo instrumentals, as well as the violin. Common Jack takes a creative turn on the metaphors he included in the single. Using a pendulum to express an inconsistent situation, he uses the lyrics “The moon becomes the sun, becomes the moon again, the pendulum will sway.” This moves into the chorus “It swings, swings swings, swings so hard. It hits hits hits, hits so hard.” Common Jack’s combination of tuneful beats with heavyweight lyrics are what makes “Restless”, into a foot-tapping track that is bound to be stuck in your head for days.
