From the heart of St. Louis comes the rowdy roar of the newfangled Mississippi river band, Les Gruff and the Billy Goat, with their new single “Two Steppin into Sin”. Their full length, self-titled album premiered last December and has been a great way to start the new year.

The track has been described as giving the old barn-burning shuffle a “facelift” and rightfully so. New listeners are sure to fall in love while long time fans are sure to be satisfied.

“You feel the slapping beat match up with your own heart, and knock your glass flat onto the floor.”

Rowdy is one way to describe “Two Steppin into Sin,” as is energetic, comical and witty. The single carries you, (drunkenly), through an unhinged night of debauchery. You feel the slapping beat match up with your own heart, and knock your glass flat onto the floor.

You’re up and out running for the door, as the lyrics, in a sonic chant, tell you exactly what you’ve been up to. It’s a no nonsense bluegrass anthem, with plenty contemporary nods and a rustic punk narrative.

The band, led by Billy Croghan, features David Roach (bass guitar), Sean Kamery (fiddle), Nigel Solomon (electric guitar), and Ed Daugs (drums). The quintet has an authentic chemistry that radiates through the old timey get together that is their music.

Quickly gathering up a very dedicated following, the band has spread their sound through heavy touring across the South and Midwest. They continue to be one of the most interesting and original bands to come out of St. Louis in a minute. They’re fun, loud, fast and nostalgic. If you enjoy a good time, the new album Les Gruff and the Billy Goat is sure to be your new favorite.
