Goodluck Buddha is best known for his vibrant posters and stickers scattered around not only Austin, but the globe.

He started his street art based around the simple philosophy of luck. Now, it has blossomed into a worldwide game of hide and seek.

After moving to Austin in 2003, everything clicked. The art he noticed plastered around town spoke to him, and he developed a character and statement to match to provoke new thoughts in passersby.

It was just our luck that we featured his work in Issue 20 “Combo,” and your luck that you get to experience it now.

I like to imagine my work as an outward expression of the world around me.

There is just something about the dirt, grime and unregulated scene that draws me into the streets. I am influenced by everyone that came before me.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of meeting people from art realms from all over, soaking in like a sponge everything I learned.

Along with posters and stickers, I like to mix in elements of stencil work. Paint, chalk, found objects and whatever else I can toss in to bring the piece the aesthetics I’m going for.

My Austin, TX is at Capacity, Don’t Move series has garnered a lot of attention lately from Californians and Austinites alike. Not just from the overpopulation issue we are facing here but the underline struggle many are facing everyday here in Austin.

People think luck is this magical gift from the universe. In reality, it’s a combination of hard work, persistence and timing. I hope my art will reassure people that luck is on their side and to just go for it.
